Getting to a Dispensary from the Strip

No dispensaries are on the Strip — Nevada law keeps them 1,500 feet from casinos. Here is how to get there and back, what it costs, and the fastest options.

Why You Need Transportation

Nevada law prohibits cannabis dispensaries from operating within 1,500 feet of any establishment with an unrestricted gaming license. Since the Las Vegas Strip is lined with casinos, every licensed dispensary in the valley is located off-Strip. This means getting to a dispensary requires some form of transportation.

The good news: most popular dispensaries are only 5–15 minutes from mid-Strip hotels by car. The trip is quick, easy, and there are multiple affordable options.

If It Is on the Strip, It Is Not Real

Any shop on the Las Vegas Strip or Fremont Street that appears to sell cannabis is not a licensed dispensary. These are hemp/CBD stores that look like dispensaries but sell products that will not produce real THC effects. Always travel to an off-Strip licensed dispensary. Learn how to spot fake shops.

Your Transportation Options

Rideshare (Uber / Lyft)

Rideshare is the most popular option for tourists visiting dispensaries. It is fast, affordable, and you do not need to worry about parking or navigation.

  • Time from mid-Strip: 5–15 minutes depending on traffic and dispensary location
  • Cost: $8–$20 each way (surge pricing may apply during peak hours or events)
  • Pickup: Use designated rideshare pickup areas at all major Strip hotels (usually on a lower level or side entrance)
  • Return trip: Request your ride from the dispensary parking lot — all dispensaries have easy pickup areas
Request Your Return Ride Before Consuming

If you plan to visit a consumption lounge like DAZED! at Planet 13 after buying, arrange your return rideshare before you consume. You will still need transportation back to your hotel, and it is easier to navigate the app while sober.

Taxi

Traditional taxis are available at taxi stands outside every major Strip hotel. No app is required — just walk to the stand and get in.

  • Cost: Slightly more expensive than rideshare — expect $10–$25 each way (metered fare)
  • Availability: Taxis are plentiful at hotel stands during daytime and evening hours
  • Tip: 15–20% is customary
  • Return trip: You may need to call a taxi company or use rideshare for the return, as taxis are less common at off-Strip locations

Free Dispensary Shuttles

Some larger dispensaries offer free shuttle service from Strip hotels. This is the cheapest way to get to a dispensary — it costs nothing.

  • Planet 13 operates the most well-known free shuttle, picking up guests from select Strip hotels and delivering them to the Planet 13 superstore (and DAZED! consumption lounge)
  • Cost: Free
  • Schedules vary — check the dispensary's website or call ahead for current pickup times and hotel locations
  • Return service: Most shuttles also provide the return trip to your hotel
Planet 13 Shuttle

The Planet 13 free shuttle is the easiest and cheapest way to visit a dispensary. It picks up from select Strip hotels, takes you to the world's largest cannabis dispensary, and brings you back. Check Planet13LasVegas.com for current shuttle schedules.

Rental Car

If you have a rental car, driving to a dispensary is straightforward. Most dispensaries have ample free parking in their own lots.

  • Drive time: 5–15 minutes from the Strip
  • Parking: Free at virtually all dispensaries
  • Navigation: Enter the dispensary address into Google Maps or Waze — all are easy to find

Walking

A small number of dispensaries near the north end of the Strip (near Wynn/Encore) are technically walkable:

  • Distance: 10–15 minute walk from the north Strip
  • Route: Along busy roads without extensive pedestrian infrastructure — sidewalks exist but the walk is not scenic
  • Best for: Guests staying at Wynn, Encore, Resorts World, or other north-Strip properties
  • Summer caution: Las Vegas summer temperatures regularly exceed 110°F. Walking even 10–15 minutes in July or August can be dangerous. Use rideshare instead during summer months

Method Cost (Each Way) Time from Mid-Strip Best For

Walking Free 10–15 min (north Strip only) North Strip guests; mild weather only

Practical Tips

Always Plan Your Return Trip

Before heading to a dispensary, know how you are getting back. If you took a shuttle, confirm the return schedule. If you took a rideshare, make sure your phone is charged. If you are visiting a consumption lounge, you will need sober transportation afterward.

Combine Trips

Some dispensaries are near other popular off-Strip destinations. Planet 13, for example, is near the Las Vegas Arts District and several restaurants. Consider combining your dispensary visit with another activity to make the trip more worthwhile.

Cannabis DUI Warning

If you consume cannabis at a lounge or rental property, do not drive afterward. Cannabis DUI in Nevada carries mandatory jail time (2 days minimum for a first offense), fines of $400–$1,000, and a 185-day license suspension. Uber and Lyft are available 24/7 — use them.
