Buying Weed in Las Vegas: The Basics
Las Vegas has one of the densest cannabis retail markets in the United States. Clark County hosts roughly 80+ active licensed retail dispensaries, all of them off-Strip — Nevada law requires at least 1,500 feet between a cannabis dispensary and any unrestricted gaming license, which effectively bans retail from the Strip and Fremont Street corridors. Clusters sit immediately west of the Strip (Industrial Rd, Western Ave, Spring Mountain Rd), in Henderson and North Las Vegas, and on the Paiute reservation just north of downtown. Several stores run 24 hours and delivery is legal across Clark County to private residences. We recommend planning a single dispensary stop early in your trip rather than chasing deals across multiple stores. Before you go, skim is weed legal in Las Vegas for the basics on age, ID, and possession caps.
Why Dispensaries Are Not on the Strip
Nevada law prohibits licensed cannabis dispensaries from operating within 1,500 feet of any establishment with an unrestricted gaming license. Since the Las Vegas Strip and Fremont Street are lined with casinos, every licensed dispensary in the Las Vegas valley is located off-Strip.
This is actually a good thing for tourists: if you see a shop on the Strip or Fremont Street claiming to sell cannabis, you immediately know it is not a real dispensary. Learn more about fake dispensary shops.
How to Identify a Real Dispensary
The single most reliable test is the Cannabis Compliance Board (CCB) license. Every operating dispensary in Nevada holds one, and every fake shop on the Strip does not. Here is the practical checklist we walk visitors through.
- CCB licensure. Confirm the storefront on the CCB Official List of Licensed Dispensaries before you go. The list shows the legal entity, the trade name, and the license number. If a shop is not on this list, it is not a licensed cannabis retailer in Nevada — full stop.
- Visible CCB license number. Real dispensaries display their CCB license number on the storefront and on their website footer. If you cannot find a license number on either, treat the shop as unverified.
- Vestibule with ID scan. Every licensed dispensary uses a two-stage entry: you sign in and an attendant scans your photo ID with a CCB-approved compliance scanner before buzzing you onto the sales floor. A shop you can walk straight into from the sidewalk is not a licensed dispensary.
- Cash or debit only. Federal banking restrictions block credit-card payments at every licensed Nevada dispensary. If a shop accepts Visa or Mastercard for "cannabis" products, it is selling hemp/CBD — not regulated cannabis.
- Lab-tested labels. Real cannabis comes in opaque, child-resistant packaging with batch numbers, lab-test panels (THC/CBD percentages, terpenes, residual solvents, microbials, heavy metals), and an explicit "For Use Only by Adults 21 and Older" warning.
- No "cannabis" or "marijuana" wordmarks on the Strip. Storefronts on the Strip or Fremont Street using marijuana-leaf imagery, "DISPENSARY," "MARIJUANA," or "CANNABIS" signage are fake by definition because real dispensaries cannot legally operate on those corridors. Under Nevada AB 504 (2025), unlicensed shops are now required to post a sign reading "THIS LOCATION IS NOT LICENSED TO SELL CANNABIS."
Our full breakdown of fake-shop tactics, synthetic-cannabinoid risk, and the AB 504 signage rule lives on the fake dispensary warning page.
Verify Any Dispensary
Always confirm a dispensary is licensed before visiting. The Cannabis Compliance Board maintains the only official, state-verified list:
Strip-Adjacent Dispensaries
"Strip-adjacent" means within roughly two miles of mid-Strip and reachable in 5–15 minutes by rideshare. These four are the most popular among visitors and consistently appear on tourist itineraries:
- Planet 13 (2548 W Desert Inn Rd) — Roughly 1.5 miles west of the Strip. The site frequently described as the world's largest dispensary, with the on-site DAZED! consumption lounge and a free shuttle from Strip hotels. Open 24/7.
- Cookies on the Strip (2645 S Industrial Rd) — Roughly half a mile from the Strip, immediately behind the Wynn/Encore corridor. Heavy tourist traffic, brand-name flower selection.
- Thrive Cannabis Marketplace (2755 W Desert Inn Rd) — Half a mile west of the Strip, near Wynn/Encore. Curated local product mix, multiple Las Vegas locations, open 24/7.
- NuLeaf Las Vegas (430 E Twain Ave) — About half a mile east of the Strip, near the Sphere and the Convention Center. Open 24/7.
From mid-Strip hotels — MGM Grand, Cosmopolitan, Bellagio, Caesars Palace — rideshare to any of the above is typically $10–$15 each way with Lyft or Uber. Pickup uses each property's designated rideshare zone (usually upper level or a side porte-cochere). At peak Strip surge times, expect $15–$20. (Reminder: cannabis use is prohibited inside the rideshare itself — see Las Vegas cannabis laws for the public-consumption rule.)
If you are willing to ride a few minutes farther, Reef Dispensaries and Essence brands also run multiple locations within a short rideshare of the Strip. Confirm hours on their websites before arrival.
Downtown / Fremont Dispensaries
Downtown Las Vegas and the Fremont Street area sit a short drive (or rideshare) from the Strip and have their own distinct dispensary footprint, including the single most unusual store in Nevada.
- NuWu Cannabis Marketplace (1235 Paiute Cir) — The largest single-store cannabis retail location in the world, sitting on sovereign Las Vegas Paiute tribal land just north of downtown. Includes a 24-hour drive-thru window and the SkyHigh Lounge, a tribal-regulated consumption lounge that has been operating since 2019. Open 24/7.
- Sahara Wellness (420 E Sahara Ave) — A long-running independent dispensary between downtown and the Strip, historically marketed as a women-owned business.
Several other Downtown / Fremont-area dispensaries operate within a few minutes' drive. Use the CCB licensed-dispensary list to filter by ZIP code. Our Downtown / Fremont cannabis guide covers the broader area in detail.
Henderson / Summerlin / North Las Vegas
Clark County is a patchwork of jurisdictions. Each incorporated city — Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, Mesquite — sets its own cannabis-retail rules, and most of the unincorporated valley falls under Clark County. Henderson and North Las Vegas both opted in to retail; Summerlin, while not a separate city, has dispensaries on its perimeter (in unincorporated Clark County and the City of Las Vegas).
These suburban stores are a 15–25 minute drive from the Strip and typically priced noticeably lower than the Strip-adjacent stores that cater to high-volume tourist traffic. Rent and demand drive the gap; product quality is comparable. If you are renting a car or staying in Henderson or Summerlin anyway, the suburbs are usually the better-value visit. Jardin Premium Cannabis and Cultivate in the Chinatown / Spring Mountain corridor are popular hybrid options — close enough to the Strip for a quick rideshare, but priced closer to the local market.
Delivery in Las Vegas
Cannabis delivery is legal in Nevada and several Las Vegas dispensaries operate their own delivery fleets. Important rules and norms for visitors:
- Private addresses only. Nevada law restricts cannabis delivery to private residences. Delivery to hotels and casinos is generally prohibited, and most hotel front desks will refuse the package even when the dispensary attempts a hotel run.
- Vacation rentals. Airbnb, VRBO, and other private rentals can usually receive deliveries. Confirm with the host first — some HOAs and short-term-rental ordinances independently restrict it.
- ID at the door. The driver scans your photo ID exactly the way an in-store budtender does. The recipient must be 21+ and the same person who placed the order.
- Cash-only norms. Most delivery operators run cash-only at the door because of federal banking restrictions; some support debit-card pre-pay through their websites.
- Hours. Typical delivery windows run 9 AM to roughly 9–10 PM, with a few late-night services available. 24-hour delivery is rare; build in a buffer.
- Same daily caps. Delivery counts against the same 2.5 oz flower / 0.25 oz concentrate daily purchase limit as in-store buys.
Euphoria Wellness, Cultivate, and several other licensees operate active delivery programs. Verify the legal entity on the CCB licensee list before placing an order. For the underlying law on age limits, possession caps, and where cannabis can legally be consumed once it is delivered, see our is weed legal in Las Vegas overview.

How to Get to a Dispensary
Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
The most popular option for tourists. Most dispensaries are a 5–15 minute ride from mid-Strip hotels.
Cost: $10–$15 each way (typical), $15–$20 at peak surge.
Pickup from designated rideshare areas at all major hotels.
Taxi
Available at all hotel taxi stands. Slightly more expensive than rideshare but no app needed.
Cost: $10–$25 each way
Metered fare; tip is customary.
Free Dispensary Shuttles
Some larger dispensaries offer free shuttle pickup from Strip hotels. Planet 13 is the most well-known for this service.
Cost: Free
Check individual dispensary websites for schedules and pickup locations.
Rental Car
Easy drive with ample free parking at most dispensaries.
Remember: Never drive after consuming cannabis. Cannabis DUI carries the same penalties as alcohol DUI in Nevada.
Walking
A few dispensaries near the north end of the Strip (Wynn/Encore area) are technically walkable in 10–15 minutes.
The walk is along busy roads without much pedestrian infrastructure. Consider rideshare instead, especially in summer heat.
The cheapest option is Planet 13's free shuttle from Strip hotels. For other dispensaries, rideshare (Uber/Lyft) is typically $10–$15 each way. Consider combining your dispensary visit with another off-Strip activity to make the trip worthwhile.
What to Bring
The visit is fast (often under 15 minutes) if you walk in prepared. The essentials:
- Government-issued photo ID showing you are 21+. A U.S. state driver's license, U.S. or foreign passport, passport card, or military ID all work. Nevada residency is not required.
- Cash, ideally in $20s and smaller. Most dispensaries are cash-preferred or cash-only. Debit-card support varies and typically adds a $3–$5 ATM-style fee. Every licensed dispensary has an on-site ATM.
- Realistic expectations on first-time discounts. First-time and returning-customer discounts are common at most Las Vegas dispensaries; specific percentages vary widely by store and week. Ask the budtender or check the store's website before you go.
- A plan for where you will use it. Hotels prohibit cannabis on property; the Strip prohibits public consumption. See our where to consume guide before you buy.
For a step-by-step walkthrough of the in-store experience, see our first-time dispensary guide.
What to Expect Inside
Modern Las Vegas dispensaries are professional, well-lit, and beginner-friendly. Here is the typical experience:
- Arrival — Enter the vestibule. A staff member checks your ID and scans it with a CCB-approved compliance scanner. This is required by law.
- Buzz-in — Enter the sales floor. Once your age is verified (21+), you are admitted to the retail area.
- Consultation — Talk to a budtender. Trained staff will help you choose products. They are accustomed to first-time buyers and will explain options without judgment. Tell them your experience level and what effects you want.
- Selection — Browse products. Choose from flower, pre-rolls, edibles (gummies, chocolates, mints), vape cartridges, concentrates, tinctures, topicals, and accessories.
- Payment — Cash or debit only. Credit cards are not accepted. On-site ATMs are standard. Expect 18–20% tax on top of listed prices.
- Exit — Receive your products. Everything is placed in an opaque, child-resistant exit bag as required by law.
Even if a dispensary claims to deliver to hotels, most hotel properties prohibit receiving cannabis deliveries. If the hotel confiscates your order, you will likely not receive a refund. Visit a dispensary in person, or have it delivered to a private residence or vacation rental.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I buy weed in Las Vegas?
From any of the roughly 80+ licensed retail dispensaries in Clark County, all located off-Strip. The closest tourist-friendly stores to mid-Strip include Planet 13, Cookies on the Strip, Thrive Cannabis Marketplace, and NuLeaf Las Vegas. NuWu Cannabis Marketplace, just north of downtown on tribal land, is the largest single-store cannabis retailer in the world. Always verify a store on the CCB licensee list before visiting.
Is there a 24-hour dispensary in Las Vegas?
Yes. Several Las Vegas dispensaries run 24/7, including Planet 13, NuWu Cannabis Marketplace (with a 24-hour drive-thru window), Thrive Cannabis Marketplace, and NuLeaf Las Vegas. Check each store's website before a late-night visit, since holiday hours can shift.
Can I buy cannabis with a passport?
Yes. U.S. and foreign passports are accepted as proof of age at every licensed Nevada dispensary, alongside U.S. state driver's licenses, state ID cards, passport cards, and military IDs. You must be 21 or older. Nevada residency is not required.
How much weed can I buy in Las Vegas at one time?
Per SB 277 (effective Jan 1, 2024), adults 21+ can buy up to 2.5 ounces of flower and/or 0.25 ounces (7 grams) of concentrate per day. The state's Metrc track-and-trace system links this across stores, so splitting purchases between dispensaries on the same day will not raise the cap.
Do Las Vegas dispensaries take credit cards?
No. Federal banking laws block Visa and Mastercard from clearing cannabis transactions, so every licensed Nevada dispensary is cash or debit only. Each store has an on-site ATM. If a "dispensary" accepts credit cards, that is a strong signal it is an unlicensed hemp/CBD shop, not a real cannabis retailer.
Are there dispensaries on the Strip?
No. Nevada law bars licensed dispensaries from operating within 1,500 feet of an unrestricted gaming license, which effectively excludes the entire Strip and Fremont Street. Any "dispensary" you see on the Strip is a hemp/CBD shop, not a licensed cannabis retailer. See our fake dispensary warning.
Can I order cannabis delivery to my hotel?
Generally no. Nevada limits cannabis delivery to private residences, and most Las Vegas hotels prohibit receiving cannabis deliveries on property. If your hotel confiscates an order, you will likely not get a refund. Vacation rentals (Airbnb, VRBO) can usually receive deliveries with the host's permission.
How do I know a dispensary is real?
Check the CCB Official List of Licensed Dispensaries. If a shop is on that list, it is licensed. If it is not on that list — or if it sits on the Strip, accepts credit cards, or lacks a vestibule with an ID-scan check — it is not a licensed cannabis dispensary.
Other Dispensary Directories
In addition to the CCB's official list, these third-party directories can help you browse dispensaries, compare menus, and read reviews. They are supplementary resources — always verify licensing through the CCB.
